Austin, Texas

The capital of Texas, Austin offers the feel of college-town living in a big city with a population of more than 750,000. Austin has a healthy balance of industries, with the technology sector particularly strong. Many businesses, such as medical products, pharmaceuticals and wireless, are locating facilities in Austin.

Austin is home to the University of Texas at Austin, St. Edward's University, Texas State University and Concordia University.

Renowned as the “Live Music Capital of the World,” Austin has hundreds of venues offering music of all types. Amid art festivals throughout the year, Austin is host to the acclaimed South by Southwest festival of film and music and the Austin City Limits Music Festival that showcases local and nationally known acts. Cultural life is rich in Austin, with more than 35 art museums and galleries, and numerous historical museums and sites. Austin is also famous for the world's largest urban colony of Mexican free-tailed bats, which emerges at dusk from beneath the Congress Avenue Bridge in a not-to-be-missed sight.

"Hook em Horns!" is the battle cry for sports teams of the University of Texas at Austin, boasting nationally-ranked programs in football, basketball, baseball, swimming, track and field, and volleyball. Austin’s professional sports teams include the minor league hockey team Ice Bats and the arena football team Wranglers.
